AJMF is the pre-eminent producer and promoter of fresh Jewish music experiences, providing opportunities for musicians and audiences to deepen their connections to Jewish music, culture and each other.
AJMF’s sixth season will provide diverse and engaging musical experiences through its annual Spring Festival (March 2015), an extended artist residency, open mic events, collaborative experiences and more.
AJMF maintains consistent contact with its fans through its website, social media platforms and online connections. This gives AJMF the ability to widely disseminate information and coverage of a diverse range of topics in various communities with very low costs. Information AJMF shares electronically helps visiting artists attract a larger audience, educates a young constituency and creates a greater interest in contemporary Jewish culture.
AJMF engages and unifies an elusive Jewish demographic that is not easily accessible through traditional Jewish programming. As an entry point to Atlanta’s Jewish community for young Jews and recent arrivals, AJMF creates a deeper interest in Jewish identity through modern culture.
AJMF enriches our entire community through new sounds and timeless melodies.
For the past 4 years this advertising class has been selected by the AJMF to create their one-of-a-kind commemorative poster designs for it's highly anticipated annual music festival. Russell Gottschalk (Director and Founder) is excited once again to work with you at the beginning of this semester in designing concept poster designs. Russell and his designer will be in class on Wednesday September 3rd to go over this year's artist and itinerary. We'll also review the work that was done in the year's past for their festival.
A limited number of these posters will be silkscreened/printed and sold or distributed to their sponsors and benefactors. One of yours might be the chosen one. Also, once your work has been chosen you will work with Russell and Daniel on getting your files ready to print (layers) and then once the posters are printed he will bring them to class to show everyone and to have the selected designer sign and number each original print. Great experience.
In the past Mario Reid (2012) and Anna Masuzawa(2013) and Matthew Phejlada (2014) had their designs chosen to be used in this national music event held in Atlanta.
The Goal:
Each of you will create 2 designs that you feel represent the festival and the goals that are given at the creative meeting. Final designs will be printed/mounted for the AJMF team.
The original designs should be 12x18 on any type of paper you choose.
The AJMF should be used as well as the musical acts and dates that Russell will be giving to you when he visits the class. The discussion of the color palette is also crucial and also if your work is chosen you will need to prep the work for silkscreen purposes.
There is a monetary award for this poster to be used by AJMF. (TBA)
Due date TBA.
Here's some previous work with more to come.
Matthew Phejlada |
Anna Masuzawa (Senior 2013) continues to work and create illustrations worthy of the one chosen above for the 2013 Atlanta Jewish Music Festival in Atlanta.
Mario Reid (Senior class 2012 began his artistic career as a street artist sketching tattoo designs and the unique streetscapes of Little 5 Points. His passion for drawing inspired him to attend art school, where he learned fine art and progressed to graphic design. In Spring 2012, Mario won a graduate design contest at Georgia State University to develop AJMF’s inaugural, limited edition hand silkscreen poster (see above). For only $35, you can own a piece of AJMF history and a fresh piece of art worthy of framing.
There’s only 50 hand numbered prints and they’re only available at our 3rd Annual AJMF so come early as these posters won’t last!!
Mario now works at CNN Headline News as a production assistant in motion.
